Am I eligible?

Any GP in Australia can offer Telehealth to any patient, however only some services attract a Medicare rebate.

If you have a provider number that allows you to bill Medicare for your professional services then you are eligible to provide Telehealth services to all your eligible patients. This applies regardless of whether you are VR, Non-VR, or an OMP.

Direct patient to GP Telehealth does not attract a Medicare rebate and is privately billed. As a result a request and refer provider number is all that is required. Back to the top of the page

Why would I want to provide Telehealth services?

How do I participate?

Accessing Medicare benefits for specialist consultations

GPs can participate in MBS funded telehealth by providing clinical support to a patient who is participating in a video conference consultation with a Specialist. So to claim the new telehealth item numbers you must be sitting in with your eligible patient while they talk to a Specialist. Back to the top of the page

What do I need to do to get started?

First you will need to register as a GP. You will need 3 minutes of spare time and a valid email address. Back to the top of the page

Do I have to sign a contract with GP2U?

No, we're confident we have the best product available so have no need to engage in restrictive practices. Back to the top of the page

Can I video conference with my patients without using GP2U?

Yes. We do not restrict your autonomy, to practice as you see fit, in any way. We do believe the convenience and risk minimisation features of our product make a compelling case for you to use it. Back to the top of the page

How do I bill?

You bill Telehealth patients in the same way you bill patients for face to face consultations. Back to the top of the page

How much does GP2U charge?

We do not charge GPs or Patients for using our GP to Specialist Telehealth referral service. If you as a GP wish to provide your medical services via Telehealth direct to patients we run on a standard managed practice income split basis. Back to the top of the page
